“Eva Legard Center for Coastal and Environmental Studies is the most unique school setting in the parish. We have small class sizes, a science focused curriculum, and a thriving partnership with the LSU College of the Coast and Environment.”

Why Eva Legard?
Small Class Sizes
With the accelerated, college-bound curriculum, small class sizes available at ELC ensure students receive hands-on learning and support. This cultivates an environment that best supports active participation, critical thinking, and learning through doing, preparing the students for their dual enrollment college courses.
Dual Enrollment Opportunities
Our students will begin taking dual enrollment college classes as freshmen in high school and can earn 60 college credit hours and an associate degree by the time they graduate high school.
STEM-Focused Curriculum
The emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics ensures that key environmental and coastal studies principles are incorporated into the curriculum of each and every class, from English Language Arts to Social Studies!
Project-Based Learning Model
A rigorous, project-based outdoor model is implemented to engage students in a STEM-focused environment. The program aims to develop and implement an instructional model that increases student awareness of their environment from a scientific viewpoint and expands the pipeline of potential future scientists and researchers for industry, academia, and the government who are knowledgeable about the environmental issues and challenges in Louisiana.
LSU Partnership
Our partnership with LSU provides Eva Legard students with specialized knowledge, skills, and resources of the state’s flagship university. The College of the Coast and Environment proves an amazing asset to ensuring the school’s mission and vision are maintained using guest speakers, field trips, and leadership and presentation opportunities through a Land, Sea, and Air Grant institution.
